President Barrow Calls on Foni Youth to Enroll in Skills Development

President Barrow, on Wednesday, December 7th, began the second leg of the ongoing 2022 Meet the People Tour with a joint meeting of 5 Foni constituencies held in Sibanor, Foni Bintang.

During his speech, the President announced that his government would embark on a 50km road development project in Foni. He also said it is part of his government’s plan to electrify over 50 communities in Foni.

President Barrow said he is a leader for all Gambians irrespective of one's political affiliations and therefore urged the people of Foni to refrain from engaging in political propaganda and support his development plans, saying, “this is not the time for politics; this is the time to work together as Gambians to develop this country”.

The President also urged the youth of Foni to enrol in skills development for self-employment, saying they are the country's future.

Addressing the former National Assembly Members who lost their reelection bid during the recent National Assembly elections, the President encouraged them to continue to work for the betterment of their people, saying, “ you don’t have to be in parliament to make a difference”.
He called on them to support their colleagues in the office now, as everyone is working for the collective benefit of all citizens.

Before the meeting in Foni, the President had a stop in Toubakuta for a site visit of Gikay Farms, where he was taken on a conducted tour of the garden.  Gikay Farms uses modern irrigation and horticultural techniques, working with graduates from Chamen Agricultural Centre.
