Honourable Seedy Keita holds a Master of Science in Financial Management from Heriot-Watt University, United Kingdom, where he gained in-depth knowledge of financial planning, investment analysis, and corporate finance. He further advanced his academic portfolio with a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Strategy, awarded with Distinction, from the University of Oxford. His educational journey reflects a solid foundation in financial principles and strategic decision-making, equipping him with essential skills for navigating economic landscapes.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

Honourable Seedy Keita brings a wealth of international experience to his role as Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs. Before being appointed the Minister, he served as Director of the Finance Department at the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he played a key role in promoting private sector growth across member countries. He also held the position of Assistant Treasurer within the Treasury Division at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Rome, Italy, contributing to global efforts in rural development finance. His professional journey reflects a strong background in financial leadership and international economic development.

AWARDS

Honourable Seedy Keita's professional excellence has been recognized through several notable awards. In 1992, he earned global acclaim by securing 3rd position worldwide in the Level 2 Examination of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT). During his tenure as Chief Accountant at the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority, he was honoured as the Most Deserving Employee for his outstanding dedication and performance. Additionally, as a member of the ICD team, he received the Senegal Sukuk Team Award for his significant contribution to the successful completion of the landmark Senegal Sukuk project, showcasing his expertise in Islamic finance and capital markets.
