Hon. Nani Juwara

Honourable Nani Juwara has served as Deputy Managing Director of NAWEC in 2014 to 2020 and Managing Director from 2020 to 2024, before he was appointed as Minister for Petroleum and Energy.

Accomplishments

In the portfolio, Hon. Juwara has supervised and coordinated the implementation of major projects, including the World Bank funded  Gambia Electricity Restoration and Modernisation Project. ECOWAS Regional Access Project, Feasibility Study for the WAPP 150MWp Solar Project, and the AFDB's Gambia Electricity Access Project. He has also set an ambitious target at achieving Universal Access to Electricity by 2025.

Educational Background

Honourable Juwara holds MSc in Business Administration- International Management from the University of Southern Denmark and B.A. in International Development Studies and Economics from Saints Mary's University Halifax, Canada. The Honourable Minister has built his professional qualifications by studying in various countries. Certificate in Advanced Financial Management and Certificate in Effective Credit Control Management (Switzerland). Certificate on FIDIC Conditions of Contact Organized by Royal Haskoning, Consulting Engineers, Nijmegen (Netherlands). Certificate in Performance Management (Ghana). Certificate in Strategic Formation and Execution, Change Management (Saudi).
