Minister Information
Hon DR. ISMAILA CEESAY
The Hon. Dr. Ismaila Ceesay was appointed Minister for Information in April 2024. Prior to this, he served as Senior Lecturer of Political Science and Head of the Political Science Department, University of The Gambia, and Director of MSc Programme in International Relations and Diplomacy.
Dr. Ceesay attended several conferences, seminars, and workshops in the USA, Europe, and African. Amongst them were the "China-African Practice: Building a Community with a Shared Future" (Tanzania), 16% Annual Research Africa Day (University of Oxford), 19th Doha International Forum (Qatar) and 2nd Nordic Gambian Investment Forum (Norway).
Dr. Ceesay served as Erasmus+ visiting Professor at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium, and the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2019 and 2020, respectfully
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Dr. Ismaila Ceesay holds a Doctorate Degree (PHD) in African Studies from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He has undergone a series of professional training on presentation skills at the Pan African Doctoral Academy and Educational Technologies for Innovative Research, Teaching and Learning- University of Ghana, Legon 2022. He also underwent a teacher training course on innovative teaching methods at the Plus Project European Academy in Malaga, Spain.
AWARDS
Dr. Ceesay won the prestigious Pan African Humanitarian Award for Excellence in Social Leadership and Community Impact. The award was conferred in Morocco in 2018. He was also awarded as the outstanding Lecturer of the Year, listed amongst the 100 most influential young persons in West Africa, and the Most Influential Young Person of the Year in 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectfully.
