President Barrow Tours Project Sites

State House, Banjul, 1st May 2025: In enhancing sustainable development across the country, H.E. President Barrow embarked on a day-long project inspection tour across various sectors, including the Gambia University of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology (USET), the National Lab for Food and Drugs (NLFD), the OIC Hotel site, The Gambia Maritime Agency Headquarters (GMAH), the Egyptian Hospital, the NEGMAR Ferry Project site, and the EFSTH Construction Project. This visit aimed to assess the progress of both government and private projects to ensure timely completion.

At USET, President Barrow expressed satisfaction with the infrastructure and standardised facilities, which will offer services the country currently seeks from neighbouring countries. The USET provides triple services, skills training, research and business opportunity to sustain the institution.  Highlighting its significance for the youth, President Barrow advised the youthful population to embrace this opportunity, saying, "When you are skilful, you are marketable."

At the Egyptian Hospital, H.E. expressed satisfaction with its standardised facilities, which will address issues surrounding health tourism for Gambians travelling to seek health care services from other countries as well as attract others to seek medical treatment in The Gambia. He assured his government's support for qualified medical personnel to work with the Egyptian team.

The President proceeded to NEGMAR ferry service, a private investment, which has already started work to provide private ferry service in the country.  At the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, the President was led on a conducted tour and he saw the level of improvements with various facilities. He saw modern and new medical facilities at labs, new x-rays, oxygen plants for dialysis patients, in well air-conditioned, and medical drugs at both the general and paediatric hospitals in Banjul, aimed at providing quality health care for all. President Barrow observed that the clean environment was conducive for both patients and health personnel. Members of these sectors extended gratitude to the President for his commitment to promoting national development.
