The President Barrow Receives Special Envoy

State House, Banjul, 6th January 2025: President Adama Barrow this morning received salutations, messages of goodwill and cooperation from the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria H.E Abdel Madjid Tebboune.

 

The message delivered through Special Envoy, H.E Madam Selma Bahte Mansouri who led a delegation including the Algerian Ambassador to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia H.E. Mrs. Selma Malika HADDADI and a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

Special Envoy H.E Mansouri conveyed that the Algerian President is committed to building and strengthening cooperation in the fields of education, health, capacity building and trade. 

 

Welcoming the envoy, President Barrow stressed, “We cannot have African integration, if Africa is not trading within.”   Adding that the stability of a country enhances its advancement while acknowledging the potential to advance the cooperation between The Gambia and Algeria through trade. The Gambian Leader emphasised that for African countries to further strengthen integration they must trade within the continent, and cannot continue to blame colonialism as a challenge to integration.

 

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mamadou Tangara, and his Permanent Secretary, Lang Yarboe led the Algerian Special Envoy to the State House.
