President Barrow receives Inspector General of the Senegalese Armed Forces

President Adama Barrow today received General Daouda Niang, Inspector General of the Senegalese Armed Forces, at the Statehouse in Banjul. General Niang is in the country to appraise the Senegalese contingent of the ECOMIG mission in The Gambia.

Speaking following his meeting with President Barrow, General Niang said the security of The Gambia and Senegal are intertwined, noting that one cannot go without the other. He said the history and cultural relation between two countries supersede the colonial boundaries that separate them.

“We have to go beyond those borders to make sure that we tackle the common issues together,” said General Niang. General Niang said the overriding “objective is to have our countries developed, and our people live in a safe and prosperous environment.”
