State House, Banjul, 2nd April 2025: Earlier today, His Excellency the President welcomed the new High Commissioner and team from the OMVG at the State House in Banjul.
The new OMVG High Commissioner, Mr. Demba A. Jallow, and his team came to express their gratitude to the President for his nomination and to seek guidance in their new roles.
As The Gambia assumed the position of High Commissioner, H.E. the President expressed his delight and emphasised the importance of working towards advancing the OMVG agenda, which is crucial for making African integration a reality. The President acknowledged the ongoing efforts related to the OMVG electricity project, which member states benefit from, and urged the team to ensure its sustainability.
The President is optimistic that the water component of the OMVG will play a critical role in boosting rice cultivation, contributing to food self-sufficiency and helping to stabilise the cost of living.
The team assured H.E. of their commitment to work diligently for the benefit of the member states.
The Honourable Minister for Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change accompanied the new OMVG High Commissioner and his team to the State House.
