President Barrow Held Audiences to Promote Education and Health

In an audience with the Chairperson of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) Professor Ato Moses Mendy, President Barrow said that his government gives priority to education and has adopted a Second Chance policy to provide young people the opportunity to take proactive measures in advancing their education. "Without education, I will not be where I am today", he remarked.  

The President assured the WAEC team of his government's commitment to its financial obligation, emphasising the institution's importance in the sub-region. He commended the Ministry of Education for improving students' performance and thanked partners in education, especially the MRC Holland Foundation, for the significant infrastructural development in the sector.

In another engagement, the Gambian High Commissioner to India, H.E. Mustapha Jawara, led a team of Indian doctors from BLK Hospital in India to the State House. Receiving them, President Barrow said Health is a priority and is reflected on the budget to make Health more accessible to the people.   

He thanked the Medical Specialists for their support and suggested a longer-term partnership through technical support to enhance knowledge transfer and exchange experiences with Gambian colleagues. He acknowledged that the third world is facing multiple challenges, but through partnership, they could maximise specialist's services.  
He also called on Gambian Specialists to redouble their efforts in providing the needed services. The Indian specialists in The Gambia are on a second mission for combined Outpatient and Surgery support to the Ministry of Health.
