Meet The People Tour 2021: President Barrow Stresses the Importance of Infrastructure 

On day nine of the Meet the People Tour President Adama Barrow held meetings in Niamina Dankunku and Dongoroba in Jarra East. At both meetings, President Barrow flouted his administration’s achievements, building roads and other infrastructure around the country. 

 

The President said for over 50 years Gambians have been paying taxes yet most of the countryside remain undeveloped. He expanded that critics will tell the people that the infrastructure he is championing is from their tax revenue. But President Barrow asked “were people not paying taxes before”? President Barrow asserted that as a public servant he will continue to do his work without distraction. 

 

Earlier on the day, the President visited a farm in Boiram where he was taken on a tour by the owners,  Baboucarr Boye  and Ali Boye who thanked President Barrow and his government for the support to farmers this year. They appealed for harvesters and threshing machines. 

 

President Barrow also visited the Maruo Farms tractor garage in Sinchu Bamba. The CEO of the farms, Musa Darboe, commended the government for its agriculture policy saying that the policy provides him hope to continue his agricultural production. 

 

President Barrow proceeded with meetings in Dankunku and Dongoroba where he presented ambulances and promised the delivery of tractors and other farming implements in few weeks. He also talked about the planned building of 13 rest areas and deployment of ambulances along the major highways.
