DATE: 27th MARCH 2026,
Honourable Speaker of the National Assembly,
Honourable Cabinet Ministers,
Honourable Members of the National Assembly,
Your Excellencies, Members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps,
CEO of ACE Communications Executive
Representative of Swami International in The Gambia
Distinguished Guests
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Alongside the inauguration of the structures on these premises, we are here to unveil a symbol of progress, ambition, and national transformation.
The Diplomat Twin Towers before us represent a new chapter in The Gambia’s development journey. This is a journey distinguished by strong confidence, a sound vision, and tangible results.
When the vision of this project was conceived, it was viewed by some as over-ambitious and, perhaps, unrealistic. Today, that vision has visibly unfolded as a success story. This is how progress works: identifying opportunities, responding with action, and delivering results that exceed expectations.
Already, there is growing interest in this development, reflecting its relevance in our evolving urban economy.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
This massive landmark, valued at about one billion, seven hundred million Dalasis (GMD1.7 billion) is designed to house over five hundred (500) occupants.
It comprises over ninety (90) apartments, supported by a multi-level commercial complex and facilities aligned with the needs of a modern urban lifestyle.
The efficient use of space here, combined with the inclusion of commercial, residential, and lifestyle components, reflects a clear and forward-looking vision. Thoughtfully, the design is purposefully made responsive to the demands of our growing urban population and the increasing need for secure office and living spaces.
In addition to its gymnasium and IT hub, plans are underway to construct an advanced medical facility and a water treatment plant on the site. These advantages will position the establishment as a centre for innovation and productivity and ensure that it evolves into a more self-sustaining and future-ready urban hub.
Beyond its infrastructural significance, the project has generated over one thousand (1,000) jobs and will continue to provide considerable employment opportunities while in operation.
We must welcome such huge investments that focus on not only beautiful buildings but also generating and sustaining livelihood opportunities.
Laudably, the project reflects the aspirations of a modern nation such as ours. The Gambia is a nation open for business, driven by private sector participation, committed to infrastructure-led growth, and focused on creating meaningful opportunities for its people.
The project is, therefore, perfectly aligned with our YIRIWA National Development Plan (2023-2027), which prioritises infrastructure development, urban transformation, private sector-led growth, job creation, and economic diversification.
Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen,
From the onset, my administration took the strategic decision to invest in infrastructure as a foundation for economic transformation. Creating a conducive environment for investors, while partnering with Gambians to generate employment opportunities, remains central to this vision.
A key objective of this strategy is not only to create jobs, but also to empower young Gambians to sustainably become independent job initiators and innovators.
This is why we have developed and continue to expand road infrastructure that does more than connect locations. Good road infrastructure connects people to opportunities and investors to possibilities.
As the Government continues strengthening this foundation, so is the private sector continually rising and building upon it.
Today, we have enough evidence of this progress, and The Diplomat Twin Towers stand as another clear proof that this vision is working successfully.
I commend the ACE Communications Executive, under the leadership of Madam Fatim Badjie, for the leadership, vision, and determination demonstrated in bringing this project to life. The development surely reflects bold thinking, strong execution, and a clear commitment to excellence.
I also extend my appreciation to Swami International, led by Mr. Khimji, for their partnership and confidence in The Gambia. Their investment reflects trust in our country and will contribute meaningfully to our development path.
In the same manner, I congratulate all those who contributed to the success of this project and pray that you accomplish many more similar tasks.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Overall, this is about The Gambia we are building: a country that welcomes investment, encourages innovation, and supports those who dare to think big and act boldly.
I urge the business community to take advantage of the opportunities at hand. The environment is improving, the prospects are strong, and the future is promising.
I also encourage you, the young people of the country, not to wait for opportunities, but to initiate them. Pursue your goals with discipline, resilience, and determination, and take ownership of your future.
As a government, we remain committed to providing the enabling environment for more developments like this through stability, good governance, and a clear policy direction.
Let me conclude by emphasising that The Diplomat must not be seen as a mere structure; it is a noble belief transformed visibly. If we continue on this path, of believing in ourselves, working, and building the nation together, there will be no limit to what The Gambia can achieve.
With great optimism for a much brighter future for this country, it is my singular honour and privilege to officially inaugurate The Diplomat Twin Towers.
May Allah bless our efforts as we continue our development journey.
Thank you for your attention.
