President Barrow Receives Japanese Ambassador to The Gambia 

President Adama Barrow today received the Japanese Ambassador to The Gambia His Excellency Tatsuo Arai at the State House in Banjul. 

Ambassador Arai who is based in Senegal, is in the country to strengthen Gambia – Japan bilateral relations. While in the country he will be engaged in a number of activities including the signing of an extension of the food aid assistance programme,  the agriculture and water supply, and technical support programmes. 

Ambassador Arai said he was happy to return to The Gambia after over a year as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. He thanked President Barrow and the Gambian people for being strong partners to Japan within the international community. 

Ambassador Arai said he and President Barrow also talked about Gambia’s participation in the Tokyo Olympic Games particularly Gina Bass’s performance and ranking in the world. He said Japanese support to The Gambia also includes scholarships for young Gambians to study in Japan.
