State House, Banjul, 29th July 2022:  President Barrow today, July 29th 2022, received the ‘Key’ bestowed on him by the Integral University of Lucknow, in Uttarpradesh State, India, for restoring and maintaining democracy in The Gambia. The Vice President, H.E Badara A. Joof, presented the key to the President at a moderate ceremony held at the statehouse.

The University also awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Human Letters – Honoris Causa to the President.

Receiving the ‘Key’, President Barrow thanked the Integral University for the honour and for recognising his efforts in strengthening democracy in The Gambia and respect for the rule of Law. He said the award encourages him to redouble his efforts in these and other facets of Governance.

President also extended his appreciation to the Government of India for inviting The Gambia to engage in high-level bilateral corporations. The President cited the 2019 State visit by the Indian President to The Gambia as a ‘‘clear indication of the respect and recognition that the Indian government has for The Gambia’’.  He thanked the Indian government for supporting The Gambia in achieving its development aspirations.
