State House, Banjul, 30th July 2026: His Excellency President Adama Barrow welcomed a delegation from Access Bank Group on a courtesy visit today, and described infrastructure development as central to his administration’s agenda. The President expressed interest in partnering with the bank to develop major projects for the Gambian people.
Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Roosevelt Ogbonna, the Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank, outlined the bank’s vision to actively participate in key national development projects, including energy, port expansion, and other priority sectors. He affirmed Access Bank’s capacity to mobilise the required resources and align with government priorities for inclusive growth. “We are here to stay, and we want to be part of the success story of the Barrow administration by advancing priority projects that directly benefit the Gambian people.” He emphasised.
President Barrow described the visit as a vote of confidence in The Gambia, attributing growing investor interest to the country’s peace, stability, and strategic geographical location.
Mr. Dominic Mendy, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Access Bank Gambia, expressed gratitude to the Government of The Gambia for the support extended to the bank since its entry into the country. He highlighted the successful acquisition of Standard Chartered Bank Gambia, which he said has boosted the bank’s corporate profile and footprint in the market.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to deepen collaboration in infrastructure financing and institutional strengthening to drive sustainable national development.
